A Brief History of Locksmith Services in Phoenix, AZ

locksmithThe world’s first lock and key contraption was found in ancient Assyria and was dated to around 2,000 BCE. Later on, the ancient Egyptians would create a pin lock based on this design.

Despite the fact that ancient Egyptians created this lock nearly 3,000 years ago, it still had many of the same characteristics as today’s locks, including a bolt, door fixture, and key. Someone (say, a pharaoh protecting his hordes of gold) would insert the key into the lock, causing the pins within to lift out of drilled holes. When the key was removed, the pins fell back into those drilled holes.

car locksmithOver the years, almost every civilization would perfect the design of the modern lock. Wealthy Romans would often wear keys as rings on their fingers, and these keys would unlock a treasure chest with all their valuable belongings. By the Middle Ages, English craftsmen had invented all-metal locks, which were prized for being more secure.

By the Industrial Revolution, locksmiths were using precision engineering to craft increasingly complex (and increasingly secure) locks and safes.

Today, locksmiths in Phoenix AZ and other parts of America need to do more than just provide basic locksmith services: they need to use modern technology to unlock electronic vehicle systems and other chip-based systems.

  3. The service and quality really say it in the name! I've used several locksmiths in the area, and Best Locksmith is by far really the best. The person who answered the phone was super nice, and Ben came right away. He was friendly, fast and highly professional. I would recommend this locksmith to anyone needing any lock service. Plus, their pricing was straightforward and the lowest I've seen.
